In France, an angler caught a massive 67-pound, 4-ounce fish Aka “The Carrot” that has been hailed as the world’s largest goldfish, although it’s actually a hybrid of two carps.
It was caught in November 2022 by Andy Hackett, of Kidderminster, England, at Bluewater Lakes in Champagne.
Carp fishing at Bluewater is considered one of the top destinations in France, with reservations booked months or even years in advance for the stocked, catch-and-release lake.

Carp as big as 90 pounds can be caught here by anglers, and many of the lake’s largest lunkers have nicknames and are well known to fishers.
As a spokesman for Bluewater Lakes, Jason Cowler told USA Today, the 67-pound female was stocked 15 years ago “so anglers could try something different.
” According to him, the fish is reportedly a cross between a leather carp and a koi carp, but it’s not the largest resident in the lake.
On February 22, 2022, when she weighed 61.5 pounds.

The Carrot broke the 60-pound mark for the first time during the 2021-2022 fishing season. The fish was caught for the first time during the lake’s current fishing season on November 3, 2022, by Hackett.
